StudyGroupIt is the first educational-social-networking company focused on learner centric approaches to improving academics through the use of study-group services. SGI is now announcing their first crowd-funding campaign, launching on July 15, 2012 through www.indiegogo.com/studygroupit
SGI is making its first attempt to complete a successful crowd-funding promotion, which is needed to raise $25,000 dollars in necessary startup capital to develop its online user database for study-group member matching services. SGI’s campaign is being hosted by, www.Indiegogo.com, which is the leading global platform for crowdfunding, empowering anyone, anywhere, to raise money. Millions of dollars each month are raised on Indiegogo and almost every country in the world has been represented. Founded in 2008, the company has appeared on Oprah, Today, and the BBC, as well as in the Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, and The New York Times.
“Simply put, crowdfunding is the process of asking the general public for donations that provide startup capital for new ventures. Using the technique, entrepreneurs and small business owners can bypass venture capitalist and angel investors entirely and instead pitch ideas straight to everyday internet users, who provide financial backing.” – The CrowdFunding Bible.
Using this fundraising approach will not only serve to raise much needed startup capital for StudyGroupIt’s online platform, but will also help to validate the need for their educational tools and services.
SGI’s CEO and Founder, Terry Robinson says, “Billions of people worldwide connect with their family, friends and professional colleagues through social networking. Why not learners? We want to build an online academic community that connects like-minded learners for truly meaningful group-study and collaborative learning.”
When recently interviewed by Online Magazine, Inside Technology, Stanford University President, John L. Hennessey Ph. D. stated the following; “I’m a believer in online technology in education. I think we have learned enough about this to understand that it will be transformative. It’s going to change the world, and it’s going to change the way we think about education.”
